THE PHOTO ESSAY MASTERCLASS WITH CARLY EARL (PHOTOJOURNALIST AND PHOTO EDITOR, THE GUARDIAN, AUSTRALIA).

THE PHOTO ESSAY MASTERCLASS WITH CARLY EARL (PHOTOJOURNALIST AND PHOTO EDITOR, THE GUARDIAN, AUSTRALIA).

In this exclusive masterclass, you will work with Carly Earl over two consecutive Saturdays. Carly Earl is the Photo Editor, The Guardian, Australia and a working photojournalist.

In this masterclass you will gain an understanding of how to present your work as a Photo Essay for a major media outlet, with consideration of both online and in print audiences.

For the masterclass you can produce a new series, develop a body of work you are currently working on, or work from your archive in developing your Photo Essay.

You will present your work or ideas, receive constructive feedback, guidance and direction on creating a Photo Essay including how to approach developing your works and whether to reshoot or consider re-editing your body of work.

At the end of the first session, you will have developed an action plan on how to approach your Photo Essay.

In the second session, we will edit your work and provide further feedback on your work and supporting text. You will then work on your Photo Essay which will be presented in the final session.

The masterclass will conclude with the presentation of your Photo Essay to Carly Earl and Paul McDonald (Director, Contact Sheet). This will be a projection evening in our new studio with drinks and nibbles provided. Each student can invite a small group of family and friends.
