6 Month Mentorship Program
Your Mentor | Cherie McNair


A unique opportunity to work under the guidance of Cherie over a 6-month period to develop your practice. The course will cover the business of artistic practice, grant applications and commissions, developing a body of work, writing about yourself and your work, and working with curators and institutions. This course aims of help you build a foundation to develop your practice holistically and sustainably. 

As a group, each month you will be set a series of assignments. You will be expected to produce a new body of work or further develop an existing project during the program.

Upon completion of the program as group you will work towards a two exhibition at Contact Sheet.  

The program will cover the following areas:

  • Managing artistic practice as a business 
  • Developing your own vision and photographic language.
  • Research and developing a series of works for a specific audience/outcome.
  • Editing, storytelling, the use of text and the final presentation of your work suitable for an exhibition, online gallery (personal or business) or blog.
  • Funding and grant applications.
  • Gallery Hire - 2 Weeks (Students are expected to manage the space during the exhibition period)

Applications are open for the month of November & December 2019. Successful applicants can enrol into the program late 2019. Pre program work will be provided to complete in preparation for your first group session Saturday 15th February 2020.
